history
The cabins here were first built by the Elving family on their 160 acre farmstead. The cabins were rented out from about 1940 to the 1970s. At one point there were 9 cabins but only three lakeside cabins remain on the property today, as well as the original farmhouse.
Chuck Elving grew up on the property and moved back home in 1981. He lived in the farmhouse, ran a sawmill, and built a larger house (the Lake House) from the wood he milled. Chuck married Ada Helleloid and they have lived there together. Chuck’s sisters, nieces and nephews vacationed in the Elving cabins. Over the years Chuck and Ada entertained many guests from all over the world, friends and family in their home and the cabins.
In 2025, Ada’s nephew and his family purchased the property from the Elving family with the intent to bring back Elving’s Mighty Fine Cabins. Eric and his wife, Jillian, have many fond memories of the Castle Danger property and spending time with Chuck and Ada for the last 20+ years along the North Shore. They are now excited to share this beautiful property with others!
During the winter of 2025-26 they are working hard on updating & upgrading the cabins, cottage (original farm house) and the custom lake house built by Chuck. Sign up for our newsletter or follow us on social media for updates on property updates.
